There are many reputed hotels around the world, which have become famous for some reason or the other. The reasons vary from good to bad.
For example, the famous Ritz Hotel in Paris remained in the headlines for months when Dodi Al Fayed and Princess of Wales, Diana had their last meal before their death in car crash in the Seine tunnel.
The murder of Dr. Martin Luther Jr. in the Lorraine Motel in Memphis,TN made it famous.
Hotels, which were used for some reasons in the World War II, have also made history.
There are many reasons for which many hotels have made history over the years.
Raffles Hotel, Singapore
This hotel, which takes its name from Sir Stamford Raffles - the colonial father of Singapore saw the troops of Japan in 1942 making it a stop.

It was named Syonan Ryokan or ‘Light of the South’ by the Japanese when they occupied Singapore. Earlier it was named Sling. Now after its renovation in the 90s, it has become a National Landmark.
Fairmont, San Francisco
This hotel has witnessed the historic meeting of the fifty of the fifty one delegates. They met in this hotel for drafting the United Nations Charter in 1945. Beginning with President Harry Truman, this hotel has been the hosts of numerous US Presidents.
This hotel is also a witness to the first humming of the signature song of Tony Bennett ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco’.
Hôtel de Crillon, Paris
Having been commissioned by Louis XV in the year 1758, this hotel became the first target of Nazi invasion during the World War II. The Nazi also captured the hotel.

The hotel also saw President Richard Nixon, King Juan Carlos, President George Bush and Elizabeth Taylor making their stay in its ninety rooms and fifty seven suites.
Lorraine Motel, Memphis
This motel saw one of the most tearful events in the history of mankind. It was in this motel where Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot by James Earl Ray on April 4, 1968.
Martin Luther was in his balcony when he fell to the bullet. It has now been transformed into National Civil Rights Museum.
The Ritz Hotel, Paris
This famous hotel of Paris is the witness to Princess Diana’s last meal. It is also the last place when the Princess of Wales was last captured on video, on the images of CCTV.
The hotel has witnessed in 1993 the death of Pamela Churchill Harriman who was the former ambassador of U.S. to France. Besides these, the hotel was filmed a number of times like in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘Love in the Afternoon.'
