Roosters Wood Fired Kitchen/Charlotte, NC
Pricey But Worth Every Penny!

I had been eyeing this place for about a year before I decided to venture into its doors and check out the menu. I usually end up passing it after dropping guests off at nearby hotels after their QCT Charlotte Daily City Tour.

This restaurant is pretty pricey and uses an ala carte’ menu whose pricing does not include cents, i.e. every item is rounded up to the nearest even number which is typical of high dollar cuisines. It makes sense that this eatery is located in the South Park area of Charlotte, NC, which is one of if not the most expensive areas of town. South Park Mall is just across the street and it is not uncommon to see a celebrity or two, or professional ball player browsing about. In fact, the mall was reportedly one of Tammy Faye Bakker’s (Heritage USA/PTL Ministry) favorite places in Charlotte to shop for make up and to dine.

The interior of the eatery is adorned with fancy and expensive décor that sort of puts you in mind of a European pub. Their wine rack features over 200 different wines and believe it or not, they actually list each one of them on a separate menu. I would hate to have the job of updating that menu. The service is moderately fast and my order is typically filled in 10 minutes or shortly over. The servers are genuinely friendly and accommodating and will make sure that your water glass stays full.

My favorite menu item is no doubt the beef short ribs which are made from heaven in my opinion. They are so tender that they literally melt in your mouth and the auju sauce accents the extremely pleasant taste of the ribs. Just like Campbell’s Soup they are ummm ummm good! On this particular outing, I ordered my favorite side dish which is the shitake mushrooms. I had had them there before, however, this time they were not the same type but still very good. Their price tag is $8.00.

My kudos goes to Chef Jim Nobles for establishing such a fine eatery here in Charlotte, NC.

Rooster’s Wood Fired Kitchen is located in the posh South Park neighborhood at 6601 Morrison Boulevard, Charlotte, NC, 28211.
