How to Choose a Professional Tour of Charlotte, NC Part 3 of 3
Experience Dictates Pricing
By Jay Whipple/Trend Magazine Online™
I typically start with a Google search for Charlotte City Tour for example. From there you can develop a list of potential candidates. Once your list of candidates is developed, you should check out the company’s track record with the area Better Business Bureau. If the company is not listed with the BBB then they should be immediately removed from your list.
Next, check out what other customers have said about this company via Trip Advisor or Google reviews. Just make sure that more than one review is listed. Finally, contact the company via its web site. If the company does not have a web site, I would consider removing that company unless they have a long established track record of 10 years or more.
If the company does not respond to you within 48-hours, then you should also consider removing them from your list. If the company does respond in a timely manner you should always establish their track record by asking the right questions, i.e., how long have you been in business and approximately how many professional tours have you given.
Please keep in mind that the only way a tour company can sell their track record is to have one and that their company is only as good as the number of successful tours that they have actually conducted. For example, paying $25.00 to a company with a two-year track record versus $30.00 to a company with a 10 plus year track record is not a good deal considering the lack of content that you will receive on the less experienced tour.
In conclusion, in this day and age of mass information it is important to remember that the best source of reliable information is word of mouth. Speaking to a person that has actually been there, done that, is by far the best source of information for most anything including locating a reliable and dependable professional tour company. In the absence of a person that you know, the next best source of referral information is the internet.
Using it wisely and regularly can and will bridge the gap between what you know and what you do not know. Member driven organizations can be a good starting place for information; however, they should be used as a starting point only as their referrals are money driven – like advertising.
