Not Quite King of Ribs But Good !

This place was relatively new when I stopped in for my usual take out meal after scoping it out for a few months while driving along the famous Central Avenue. It is located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood which is a revitalized old textile mill community that thrived during the hey days for anything made of cotton. Textile was once one of the biggest industries in Charlotte along with banking and transportation courtesy of  the rail road. The industry like many other labor intense industries is slowly being transferred to third world countries where labor is much much cheaper. In fact, it is easy to find this place because it is right next to the rail road tracks near The Plaza.

I got a chance to speak with the proprietor and his wife and they seemed like pretty nice down-to-earth folks who genuinely care about their customers. They were so nice that I gave them some very valuable advice which is to offer a military discount on a certain day just like they do for seniors. I made them aware of the little recognized U.S. Army Reserve installation just down the street. It is the headquarters for the 108th  Training Division, my former unit when I was enlisted. I am now retired since 2001. Our job was to train initial entry and Infantry soldiers.

Back to the matter at hand, I ordered the small ½-pound rib plate for lunch, along with sweet tea. The plate comes with a heaping helping of pork ribs, potato salad, and baked beans for $7.50 plus tax. The ribs were tender and tasty, the potato salad was close to tasting homemade, and the beans tasted homemade. All in all it was a good dining experience and a bonus to be able to chat with the cordial owners.
