It was Ground Hog Day (February 2nd)
when I stopped in at this eatery after hearing good things about from two of my
riders while conducting contract transportation services here. You know you can
trust a personal review when it comes from two people who are not acquainted
with each and they actually consumed the service unlike these new bogus online
review services that thrive on negativity. This establishment is located in a
not-so-popular section of the city but along a major artery through Miami that
extends north into Broward County which becomes Highway 441/State
Road 7 which rolls right past the very popular Seminole Hard Rock Casino
in Hollywood, Florida. It also rolls past one of my favorite
childhood canals just north of N.W. 81st Street where I and
my crew spent countless hours fishing for Oscars, minnows, and an
occasional turtle.
That canal was also the scene of one of the most
daring feats that I have ever seen to date. My cousin jumped in one day and
swam clear across to the other side on a dare. This was after we had spotted a
gator swimming along shore while fishing on one of our outings. When you grow
up dirt poor this was it in terms of summer fun. This end of this major
thoroughfare is littered with industrial and commercial buildings but it does
not hinder the traffic that this place sees daily during lunch time hours. I
arrived just after 1 P.M. and after dropping off my last rider for the
day. The lunch time parking was very hectic and I was lucky enough to get a
spot in their parking lot as opposed to risking getting towed parking
elsewhere. The line was still pretty long and it got longer after my arrival.
People were dressed in their various work attire to include some from the
nearby hospitals downtown. I could tell that they were regulars because they
knew each other and some of the restaurant staff. One lady was so well
acquainted that she was able to order from her place in line which was in back
of me. I did not get mad at her because it was my first time visiting.
