Forgot My Celery Sticks!

Garofolas Italiano Concord NC Review Pic

I literally discovered this eatery on one of my many walk and bike routes that I have established in North and South Carolina, and South Florida while performing transportation services for Queen City Tourssm and Travel. Italian food used to be one of my regular favorites when I was younger; however, not so much so as an older adult trying to stay loyal to my low carb diet to prevent diabetes and other health issues. I do occasionally have an irresistible craving for it from time to time and this just happened to be one of those times. And, since it's located near the end of my route; it was no problem to pop right on in, place the to-go order, stuff it in my backpack, and continue my workout.

I arrived Just after 6pm towards the end of my walk for exercise and noticed that parking was a bit congested due to other businesses in that business strip. There was some parking available on back street if you are familiar with the location. I entered and was greeted immediately by a very friendly and helpful hostess who gave me a larger menu to see the items better. Another staff member personally walked me over to the separate take-out area where I was greeted immediately by a nice young man who was very patient after I explained to him that it was my first time patronizing their establishment.

I noticed that most folks (staff included) were not wearing masks in mid-May 2022, when the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) was suggesting otherwise. As far as the interior decor, it was of a typical sports bar variety with multiple big screen TV's, team banners and other sports-related paraphernalia. There were lots of Pittsburgh Steelers tributes which suggested a transplant connection with Pennsylvania that started way back in the mid-1700's as we explain on our company's QCT Charlotte Daily City Toursm. As such, I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli with market buffalo wings, mild, with garlic and parmesan cheese served with celery and blue cheese dressing. They did not offer wheat bread to cut back on the carbs.

My meal totaled $26.21 without tip, which I consider a bit on the pricey side considering my order. The dining rooms were about 3/4 full which suggests that they had a loyal following especially since it was the middle of the week. Their men's room was clean, but I forget to check their sanitation code which is required in North Carolina. My order was up in approximately 22 minutes; they said it would be between 28 to 30 minutes. I consumed my meal at my destination and the stromboli bread was soft and easy to dip into their marinara sauce which was not too spicy for my taste. The sandwich was very cheesy with nice chunks of steak, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms well blended together for a tasty experience. Their wings were the crispy type with less grease but well coated with garlic sauce. The blue cheese dressing appeared to be homemade but not as good as what I prefer in terms of the lumps of cheese.

Everything was fine except they forgot my celery sticks which is a major taboo for me because I love them with my wings! So much so that I can not say with certainty that I will be back.
