“American Battleships” wrapped filming this week in Wilmington. The film, starring Mario Van Peebles, JoHanna Watts and Carl Weathers, filmed aboard the Battleship North Carolina and at EUE/Screen Gems Studios. “There are unique locations in the region like the Battleship that are able to accommodate large feature films as well as small independent projects,” said Johnny Griffin, director of the Wilmington Regional Film Commission. “This certainly assists us in recruiting productions when they are looking for locations that can only be found in certain geographic areas. As one of our key marketing elements, we do promote this specialty and in this case was obviously a draw to bring them here.”
