-- Charlotte Knights Double Attendance from 2013

Attendance reaches a new franchise-high every time the Charlotte Knights take the baseball field at BB&T Ball Park in Uptown Charlotte. This past weekend, the Triple A team wrapped up its latest homestand by pushing season attendance to 511,068 fans in 53 home games, or more than double the total last season. In 2013, of course, the Knights finished a 24-year run across the state line in York County. Earlier this season, Charlotte established a new season attendance record, eclipsing the previous high of 429,132 set in 1993. The $54 million, 10,000-capacity uptown stadium opened in April after more than a decade of stop-and-start campaigns by the team, elected officials and uptown boosters to put the Charlotte Knights back in Charlotte. So far, the move has paid off. After years of ranking at or near the bottom of the 14-club International League in attendance, the Knights are now No. 1. With 18 home games left, Charlotte is averaging 9,643 fans per game this season.
