-- Cape Hatteras Top 10 Beach 2015!

Cape Hatteras placed No.4 among the Top Beaches for 2015, moving up one slot from its 2014 ranking. Determined by "Dr. Beach," a.k.a. Dr. Stephen Leatherman, the annual ranking rates beaches on criteria such as water and sand quality as well as safety and environmental management. Of Cape Hatteras, it was noted, "Bulging far offshore of the mainland coast as a barrier island, Cape Hatteras was the first National Seashore. Providing some of the best board surfing along the East Coast, as well as the most famous lighthouse in the United States, Cape Hatteras attracts beachgoers to its historic fishing villages. Nature lovers adore the excellent beachcombing and superb fishing." Waimanalo Bay Beach Park in Oahu, Hawaii, was ranked No. 1.
