Visit NC's Nabors and Capital City Juneteenth Celebration committee see event efforts come to life!
For nearly two years, Visit NC's Andre Nabors has been part of the Capital City Juneteenth Celebration committee, whose work came to fruition this past weekend in Raleigh (the State Capital). The committee worked closely with community members, N.C. Museum of History, African American Heritage Commission, City of Raleigh, and Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy for an in-person event this year. The inaugural Juneteenth celebration brought approximately 1,200 attendees to the park with music, dance, historical presentations, and the Inaugural Dr. Elliot Brown Palmer(Educator, public historian, preservationist) Award for Excellence in History Education.
